Radio Silence -Ny-Ålesund essay

Ny-Ålesund is one of the most northern settlements in the world and home to a unique research base for Arctic science. This photo-essay tracks the community of Ny-Ålesund through two seasons and explores the visible contrast between its industrial past and high-tech future. Recently the BBC’s David Shukman has filed reports from the remote location, interviewing some of the scientists that work there.
