The Crystal House

Artist Roger Hiorns ‘seeded’ the interior of a South London
council flat with crystals. Ninety-thousand litres of
copper-sulphate solution were pumped into the prepared
space and drained some days later. The sealed building
was opened to reveal a deep blue crystal cavern which
glittered like jewels. The surrounding pocket of
run-down central London in which it was built
seemed to enhance the shine.
